Well here we are in very unusual and historic times as a planet and a human race.
Our lives have been brought to a screaming halt and no one is feeling that comfortable with these new circumstances, let alone the often confronting action of self isolation.
My partner Peter & myself arrived home from Egypt the day after Australia enforced a 14 day self isolation period for all travellers returning from overseas. So here I am on day 7 writing to you and sharing what I have gleaned so far.
Being a natural hermit at the best of times I thought I would surrender into this very easily and given the jet lag on top of the isolation I thought this would be ideal for deep rest. But no! The first 3 days were filled with anxiety, wanting to be active, very broken sleep and an unnerving sense of such a surreal situation. The next 3 days were softer, of feeling emotional and reflective and at times completely lost. Now on day 7 a sense of wishing to be creative and energetic has inspired me to share what I know so far from this particular experience and others of isolation in my life, to be natural cycles of unfoldment within us.
The mind is a huge magnetic force field that has been in ‘overdrive’ for way too long. We have become so polarised within our heads that even if we are doing nothing physically we are usually still madly over thinking either about the past or future and this unfortunately has become our normal way of operating on a daily level. Anxiety is created by the mind which has a desperate needs to know and control everything! This then creates doubt and fear and if we cannot find a way to release ourselves from this we then can spiral down into depression or deeper anxiety. And you are going to find that the first 3 days of isolation in particular the mind will be trying to run the show.
Often around day 4 or 5 people start to feel hopelessness and depression as the mind is still convincing them that they have no control in their life and this is where surrendering into what you are feeling is so very important and so very healing. As the mind starts to wind down it can feel very alien and disorientating to an individual and its here I suggest talking to someone to share what your feeling and give your emotional body the chance to express itself. And if you can go with the flow of this letting go, the depths of despair or helplessness you may be feeling will usually dissipate. However it is only in the full allowance of these emotions that you can move into the next cycle of inspiration and a sense of new creative vigour. The emotions are the ‘bridge’ between the mind and the body and if the emotional body is not allowed to express naturally and without judgement then all sorts of misalignments in the mind and body can take place.
As a society we have denied, repressed and criticised ourselves when feeling emotionally out of control, however transformation requires only one thing and that is uninterrupted space in which to transform. So this imposed isolation, as difficult as it can initially feel is a perfect way to express, release and transform what we have been too busy in the past to allow.
Our lives are cyclic just like the four seasons, so when we are placed in a situation of no outside distractions or interactions this allows a special time for our bodies, minds and emotions to transform, heal and regenerate. This at first can feel foreign and uncomfortable but when we can trust our bodies and allow them to release our already self created anxiety then a deep sense of becoming centred and serene can be experienced.
Self isolation can take us either into a place of self hatred or self love, self criticism or self acceptance. You always have the choice!
Allow your mind, body and emotions to free themselves and heal themselves as this will then activate the creative life force that courses through your veins in every moment to rise to the surface and bring new perceptions and inspiration into what would have normally been a slave oriented way of living.
Use this precious time and space of self isolation to ask the Spirit world for help and guidance. Reconnect with your perhaps forgotten desires and dreams and give permission to the divine intelligence of your own Soul to show you the way forward and allow the natural rhythms & releases of your being to keep you in balance and alignment with a path of faith and trust, not fear and terror.
And please remember that you are the most powerful person you are ever going to have the honour to know! So take responsibility for your own well being on all levels and know this is can be a time of rebirth and renewal.
In Loving Service

Hi Jen, I myself am limiting my exposure and staying home as much as possible as I am at risk. I first I also felt panic, anxiety physically and very sleepless nights. It all came to a head! Had a yell and a good cry and now I’m calm, have made a plan, written a to do list and am actually looking forward to each task I’ve set. I’m meditating again and feel like I’m floating. I feel we have have lost touch with each other so much, so I’m really looking forward to all us reconnecting again and getting to know one another , spiritually, mentally, creatively etc just like Min said about us all becoming a community again and connecting. This is exactly what’s happening as we all have to pull together to get through this . Love and light always xxx
