I have been very fortunate over the years to have rubbed shoulders with many amazing people from all walks of life and beliefs and one thing they all have in common is they are each searching for their unique and fulfilling path in this world.
The question’Why am I here and what is my purpose?’ has I believe, become a relatively new spiritual concept within our western society and has certainly created a lot of frustration and disappointment along the way for so many Souls.
We live in a world predominately based on keeping up appearances and becoming successful, but underneath this facade there is an invisible epidemic called Inadequacy and this disease can be found across the board, even amongst those who appear to be high achievers in their field, including spirituality, and it is often this underlying force of inadequacy that propels an individual to strive for unobtainable perfection.
This then sets up the scenario of creating a goal driven destination within the ego mind that must be reached, otherwise we convince ourselves that we have failed. But all along we are setting ourselves up for an inevitable fall, whether the goal be to reach the top of our so called chosen path or to improve ourselves to an idealised image of ourselves. However throughout this entire process we are stressed, strained and trained not to be present, accepting and understanding of ourselves.
I believe our ultimate purpose is to surrender to our true self and our true self can only be discovered in one place and that is the Heart. Our true self is beyond the confines and judgements of the mind and any form of destination cannot exist within the reality of the Infinite as all is already present in this eternal now.
The paradox is that you cannot journey into the vast radiance of your true eternal self because the aspect of you called the human self is in fact creating itself within it. You are already that which you seek and it is the doing and striving that is keeping people at such a distance from what has always been perfectly present as them.
And if one thing needs to be healed within our society it would have to be our perception of ourselves and our so called paths.
All activities, including spiritual practices, have created a deep dark chasm within the human psyche telling us that we must strive, struggle and succeed in all we do, otherwise we will not be worthy to receive, whether it be of love, money or acknowledgement.
At your core you are love, feel it until you believe it and know your path is already blessed with the truth of what you infinitely are and have always been.
